THEODORE is a wedding guide and magazine showcasing only the best inclusive wedding vendors from across the globe and a space where ALL couples can come and plan their wedding and feel wholly accepted with who they are.
Our purpose is to provide a comprehensive wedding planning platform that exclusively showcases wedding businesses that are fully supportive and inclusive of the LGBTQI+ community. Our dedication to inclusivity sets us apart as we take pride in being one of the few wedding platforms globally that thoroughly screens all our advertisers to ensure they fully embrace LGBTQI+ couples. We are committed to maintaining this high standard and providing an inclusive wedding platform for all.
At the time of THEODORE'S launch in 2016, planning an LGBTQI+ wedding was difficult due to the lack of an 'Inclusive Wedding Directory'. My partner and I had to face the challenge of finding businesses that could support us. However, since then, THEODORE has grown significantly, gained recognition from top publications, and we’ve worked with some of the most renowned names in the global wedding industry.
…THEODORE is a personal journey for me, starting back in 2014 after I got engaged and discovered that many members of my own family didn’t want anything to do with any of the celebrations around my relationship; they wouldn’t be attending our engagement party, and they most certainly wouldn’t accept an invitation to our wedding. To top this off, we experienced discrimination while planning our own wedding in Australia.
It was a tough time for me, and my now husband, Nick, and it made us want to ensure that LGBTQI+ discrimination within wedding planning was out of the picture. For many LGBTQI+ couples, the journey of acceptance has been challenging, and the last thing we want is for any LGBTQI+ couple to experience any form of discrimination around their wedding planning journey.
Even though marriage equality is now a reality in many parts of the world, we still have a long way to go when it comes to accepting and understanding this topic, as we are still fighting discrimination within the wedding industry.
